Having received the brief last week I have had a week to get started on my business plan. I am very excited and motivated about this project, I think it will be very challenging and time pressured however it is actually something that I am excited to take on and use the opportunity to apply all the knowledge and skills developed over the duration of the course.
The first task is to choose a brand and I was hoping to have done this by now. I was starting to get quite excited about the idea of taking on the Aldo brief as it is a good chance to work with with people in industry, I have also not worked with footwear yet so it would be interesting to work with a different product type. Based on this I started research into both Aldo and other big footwear names such a Christian Louboutin, Jimmy Choo and Manolo Blahnik. After gathering some basic information I started formulating possible ideas for where I could take both Christian Louboutin (the one that i feel most inspired by) and Aldo (due to the possible collaboration) and decided to hold back on making my choice until I had the full briefing from the contacts from Aldo.
However yesterday it transpired that we will no longer be working with Aldo, which is a little disappointing and has confused my direction a little. I now need this week to really focus and formulate a clear idea, I am still considering Aldo and Christian Louboutin as possibilities so I need to think hard about which I can get the most stuck into. The pressure is now on a little as I ideally should have reached that decision last week and I want to be able to put a lot of work in over the Easter break so that I do not get behind or put on too much last minute pressure.
Hopefully by next week I will have started to build my research and report and creative ideas to share.
